Jayco Discovery (2026)
From $55,990
Jayco's MY26 Discovery replaces the long-running 10-year-old Journey range and is positioned by Caravan World as 'likely to be the most popular series of vans in Australia.' Body lengths span 16 ft to 22 ft across both Touring (pop-top) and Outback (hardtop) lines, with couple and family-bunk floorplans. The 17.54-1.DY-MY26 entry variant tested here gets a 300 Ah lithium battery, twin 260 W solar (520 W total), a 224 L 12 V fridge, 27 in Smart TV, 3.3 kg washing machine and a Starlink Mini-ready external socket as standard. Pop-top range starts $55,990; hardtop $78,990.
What we like
- ✓ Replaces the Journey range with substantial spec upgrades (lithium, larger fridge, Starlink-ready)
- ✓ Wide range — 16 ft to 22 ft, pop-top and hardtop, couples and families
- ✓ Continuous hot water unit and pillowtop mattress standard
- ✓ Jayco's dealer network covers every Australian capital plus most regional centres
What we don't
- ✕ Two-year manufacturing warranty (5-year structural runs separately)
- ✕ Outback variants get more capability but with sub-3-tonne ATM ceiling
- ✕ Variant lineup is large — easy to under- or over-spec without dealer guidance
- ✕ Photography of the new model is thin online — hero image deferred
